Ezra Pound(1885-1972)



Ezra Pound nasceu em Hailey, Idaho, em 1885. Depois de ser professor viajou por Espanha, Itália, Londres, onde se interessou pela poesia Chinesa e Japonesa. Casou com Dorothy Shakespeare em 1914 e tornou-se no editor londrino da Little Review em 1917. Em 1924, mudou-se para Itália onde se envolveu na propaganda fascista através de rádio para os EUA durante a 2ª Guerra Mundial. Em 1946, já nos EUA, foi declarado como incapacitado mental e confinado ao St. Elizabeth's Hospital em Washington, D.C.
Em 1948, foi galardoado pelo Bollingen-Library of Congress pelos seus Pisan Cantos. Em 1958 regressa a Itália onde vem a falecer em Veneza, em 1972.
